Azukari Koi

Azukari Disclaimer
These koi, while available for purchase, will not be available to ship immediately. They are currently being grown in our 750,000-gallon mud pond and will be experiencing rapid growth throughout the next several months!
The pictures shown on our website are their photos prior to their mud pond release. How many inches will they grow in our mineral-rich, Kentucky clay?
Find out during our annual mud pond harvest as they are carried from the mud to their holding tanks: surprise!! All owners will be invited to the Spring Mud Pond Harvest to pick up their new fish.
International and domestic shipping is available at the expense of the new owner after standard deworming protocols are completed, should you not collect them during the Harvest.
Azukari fee ($500) is included in the price of the fish.
In case of death or disappearance while in the mud pond, the monetary value of your koi will be returned via the method it was sent, minus the standard Azukari fee of $500, which goes toward feed, maintenance, etc. In the event that your fish goes missing when the mud pond is pulled (presumably due to natural causes), we will refund you the value of the fish in full. While we are happy to use your credit toward another fish, we know that no replacement is identical to the fish you wanted, and will honor that by guaranteeing a full refund.

Frequently Asked Questions
Azukari (預かり) is a Japanese term meaning 'to be entrusted with.' In the koi world, it refers to a practice where koi are purchased but left in the care of a breeder or facility to grow — often in a mud pond — before being shipped to the owner.
Azukari koi are released during our annual mud pond harvest in spring. All owners will be invited to the Spring Mud Pond Harvest to pick up their new fish. International and domestic shipping is available at the expense of the new owner after standard deworming protocols are completed, should you not collect them during the Harvest.
Growth varies by variety and genetics, but koi in our mineral-rich Kentucky clay mud pond can gain several inches in a single season. The warm, nutrient-dense environment accelerates growth far beyond what is possible in a filtered pond.
The photos shown on our website are taken prior to each fish's mud pond release. After a season in the mud pond, coloration and body conformation often improve dramatically — making the harvest a true reveal.
An Azukari fee of $500 is included in the price of the fish. In case of death or disappearance while in the mud pond, the monetary value of your koi will be returned via the method it was sent, minus the standard $500 Azukari fee, which goes toward feed, maintenance, etc. In the event that your fish goes missing when the mud pond is pulled (presumably due to natural causes), we will refund you the value of the fish in full.
